The “Rifugio Barfè” farmhouse is located in Val D’Angrogna, at 1220 m. on the northern slopes of Mount Vandalino. The Angrogna Valley is an internal valley of Val Pellice.
The environment that surrounds our farm is typical of the Alps: meadows and pastures alternate with beech and birch forests, providing wildlife with a peaceful habitat rich in sustenance.
The altitude, the ability to access the refuge either on foot or by car and the still uncontaminated environment are just some of the attractions of the town.
Nature lovers can find splendid itineraries where you can enjoy pleasant moments of relaxation, while the more sporty guests will find a reference point for hiking and mountain biking in the summer, and snowshoes and alpine skiing in winter, at the “Rifugio Barfè” farm;
All these ideas as well as the opportunity to enjoy a lunch based on Piedmontese specialties or an abundant “merenda sinoira” with the inevitable “al verde” anchovies are an invitation to discover a corner of Val Pellice that is still uncontaminated, and therefore able to offer some pleasant surprises.
Angrogna – Barfè Superiore n. 197
How to reach us
There are two accesses to our establishment; one can be traveled by car or bicycle, the second being forbidden to the transit of unauthorized vehicles, it can be easily traveled on foot (as well as by bicycle and on horseback).
As for access in the winter period, the second possibility described is always recommended as the asphalt road at the bottom of the Angrogna valley is cleaned normally and the excursion from the Barfè bridge to the “Rifugio Barfè” farmhouse can be covered in snowshoes. Or with touring skis without any danger of avalanches and on generally beaten ground.
Access n.1 (not passable in winter with snow)
From Torre Pellice take Viale Dante at the Trento Cinema and continue along the tree-lined avenue until you meet the first sign indicating the “Rifugio Barfè”.
From this point up it is sufficient to follow the frequent indication signs for the Refuge until reaching the locality “Sea di Torre”, where the arrival station of the old Vandalino chairlift is located.
From this point the road continues flat, crosses a deep valley and comes out in the locality of “Prà la Stella” from where you can enjoy a remarkable view of the plain and the mountains of Val d’Angrogna. The road now descends through a beautiful beech forest and reaches the “Rifugio Barfè” farm.
In the last stretch of the road there are numerous parking spaces reserved for our guests.
In total there are about 10 km from Torre Pellice of which about 2 km of dirt road with a generally good surface.
From Torre Pellice continue by car along the road to the bottom of the Angrogna valley (signs for Prà del Torno) for about 6.5 km until you reach “Ponte Barfè” (Barfè bridge) where there is a large advertising sign of our farm right adjacent to a convenient and spacious parking.
After crossing the stream that gives the valley its name, take the private dirt road that gently climbs the slope, touching the numerous villages until you reach a small Catholic chapel at the foot of a larch forest. Leave the road and continue along the G.T.A. which leads to the “Rifugio Barfè” farm.
The whole route is signposted; from the Barfè bridge there are 390 meters in altitude and you have to calculate about 50 minutes at an average pace.
N.B. Along the route of the road it is possible to use the shortcuts of the old mule track.
