A terrible plane crash involved Val Pellice on 21 July 1957. A gigantic Lockeed P2V Neptune took off from the NATO base in Aviano (Udine) to participate in the search for another American aircraft, crashed at Pian Sineive (climbing from Conca del Prà towards il Rifugio Granero) in an attempt to make a crash landing. Only one of the ten passengers was saved.
On July 13, 1958, a stone monument was erected in the place of the impact with some pieces of the plane embedded in memory of the victims.
