Jumarre Refuge

The Jumarre Refuge, open since 2001, has been designed and structured according to the reception of classes, families and groups, is equipped for the reception of disabled guests or guests with reduced mobility and can be reached in any season by paved road.

The refuge is to all intents and purposes a center of educational experiences and deals with school stays. It can accommodate 50 people with accommodation in rooms with independent services and rooms for activities.

The capacity was thought to maintain a familiar and hospitable atmosphere and to give the opportunity to “live” this place in harmony with the surrounding environment.
The Jumarre Refuge is located on the Vaccera hill in Val d’Angrogna in the heart of the Waldensian Valleys about 60 km from Turin. Its panoramic position allows you to admire some mountain ranges, such as the Monte Rosa complex, the Monviso and on clear days the gaze, having passed the whole Po valley, reaches the Maritime Alps.

Numerous paths and crossings of different difficulty start from the Colle, among others we point out Mount Servin which offers safe walks even in winter with snowshoes or skis and the thematic path of the “Winged People”.

How to reach us

From Luserna S. Giovanni pass the railroad crossing and turn right at the first roundabout following the signs for ANGROGNA or RIFUGIO JUMARRE on the paved road km 11.5 towards Colle della VACCERA altitude 1469m. Warning: for those who use gps navigation, check to set the road that passes from Luserna S.Giovanni and not from Prarostino (many gps’ have a better view of the road that passes through Prarostino which is actually unpaved and not very easy).

The refuge is open all year round.

Offered services

During weekends we organize stays for families and courses for adults; among the most tried and tested proposals: photography, how to make bread at home, the recognition of wild plants and various dance stages. During the summer the refuge organizes summer stays for children and teenagers.

In the surrounding area there are also two small, easily accessible rock gyms with easy routes suitable for those who want to try out climbing.
