Waldensian guesthouse “Foresteria Valdese”

Hospitality is an act of worship, indeed the highest act of worship that man can perform. “Foresteria” is a word that comes from the Latin adverb “fores”. The stranger is the one who comes from outside, from elsewhere, who is not at home, who is not from the family, the one who was not there and now suddenly there he is, the unexpected, the one who does not belong to your family, your people, your race, your culture, your language, the other, the different, the stranger. The stranger is a stranger destined to become a guest. Practicing hospitality is not just offering spaces but in some way offering oneself, getting involved, accepting the encounter.

The Waldensian Foresteria is one of the holiday homes of the Waldensian and Methodist Church, located in the heart of Torre Pellice, the historic “capital” of the Waldensians and the center of Italian Protestantism. The structure has 46 rooms with bathroom located in three historic buildings, the “Pensionnat”, used as a historical museum until 1989, the “Old farmhouse” and “Casa Beckwith”, with a total capacity of over 100 beds. A large and bright dining room can accommodate up to 150 people. The large and shady garden offers guests an oasis of greenery to relax, read a book or meet. There are also some rooms for organizing meetings and seminars.

La Foresteria is the ideal place for a stay in an atmosphere of other times, as well as an ideal starting point for excursions, walks and guided tours to places of Waldensian history.
